The course teaches apprentices and electricians the fundamentals of networking and cybersecurity, specifically, as it relates to their work as an electrical installer. Participants learn the basic principles of cybersecurity and how to apply them to their personal devices, as well as the building system components they will install. The Cybersecurity for Electricians course consists of four (4) lecture modules and four (4) hands-on exercises. Participants also learn how to identify and evaluate the cybersecurity risks associated with different networked Operational Technology, Information Technology, and Physical Access Control system components. The course covers various methods for configuring networked devices, as well as common network testing tools that can be used to evaluate network configuration and security. Finally, participants in the program learn how to implement fundamental cybersecurity hardening measures on both the end point devices and networking devices. Participants who successfully complete the Cybersecurity for Electricians course will receive the Cyber-electrical Training Certification.
